Actually, the people who built the backbone of the Fediverse have been using the term prior to Meta’s attempt to hijack it, which as expected, failed hilariously:-P.
So now the question follows: do we allow them to define what we call ourselves, especially since they died?
I made a recent poll about use of the term as a post flair (btw PieFed has both polls and post flairs, along with many other features that Lemmy lacks), which you can participate belatedly in via a comment in the Lemmy version.
Most people both hate Threadiverse yet also demand to use it over any other term, due to us owning it before fucking Meta fucking tried to fucking steal it and thereby fucking ruin it, I guess out of stubbornness to not let them? :-D
