A comment by former president Thabo Mbeki has underscored how the private sector can be a salve for many problems South Africa faces while, at the same time, leading to many people simply not receiving services at all. However, the move towards privatisation seems unstoppable.

An interesting assesment of how a failing state almost makes privatisation inevitable. But at the cost of not servicing the majority of the country’s population, and only catering to those who can pay for all services. Pay to win in reality.

    How can the private sector be a salve for anyone? With claims like that, I suspect the former president shares a lot of blame for the failing South African State.

      Mandela was a great leader who stabilized the country and brought it through the transition of apartheid to a free country.

      His successors have not been as good.
