for every informed gamer that would have feelings about $80 games there are thousands of paypigs who are disney adults for nintendo, millions of casuals who don’t give a shit about “the industry”, and millions of parents who are buying a toy for the kids and don’t buy games often enough to be very price conscious.

we all already know “vote with your wallet” and unorganized boycotts are worthless.

according to a guy i watch for background noise, it makes pokemon scarlet/violet run almost acceptably

though not as well as just emulating it on pc with halfway decent hardware

It’s the Switch but more powerful, bigger handheld screen, a bit bigger joy-cons, integrated chat functions. Definitely an incremental improvement rather than a drastic evolution. The line-up is a bit thin right now but that’s typical for the launch period.

It’s not going to make my jackbox games jokes funnier or stop my kid from putting black holes everywhere in ultimate chicken horse so I think that for me it’s just a regular switch that costs like, most of a mortgage payment.

      • Your comment got me curious.

It looks like West Virginia has the cheapest average mortgage payment at just over $1,600.

So more like 1/3 of a mortgage payment? Still too rich for my blood. We’re also like a year away from a switch2 exclusive pokémon game, plenty of time for me to pick one of these up used at a local pawn shop.

Nintendo’s dog fighting simulator is the one of the few treats I allow myself nowadays, I’m really going to be annoyed when I have to shell out several hundred dollars for a console upgrade In order to stay current.

This shit was so fucking disingenous. There is an untold amount of Japanese games and media that takes extreme creative liberties with historical events and figures

The above screenshot shows the extremely historically accurate battle between Jubei Yagyu and Nobunaga Oda in the historical epic, Onimusha 2.

Gamers when Nioh presents an orientalist bastardization of Japanese myths and shoehorns in a white guy protagonist for no reason: Game of the Year! No complaints!

Gamers when Assassin’s Creed presents a more historically loving fictionalized story about a national icon: Nooooooooo, this is so disrespectful!

That crowd just hates black people There’s a reason thst one streamer with the stupid name called it a “heated gamer moment” when he dropped the N bomb

Honestly game critics seem to be a better judge of game quality than gamers as opposed to say film critics, whose audience seems to be other critics and the film industry itself. And remember most gamers play call of duty or what I call the Corolla of gaming

It’s kinda nuts to think that when the 360 came out, it was more powerful than the best consumer PC you could build (and arguably the PS3 also did, or would have done had it released in 2005 as planned), for $299 (less than 500 adjusted for inflation).

And that’s like…the entire purpose of consoles: a dedicated machine with hardware stronger than a PC meant exclusively for a specific type of software. Somehow that’s been forgotten (and by “somehow,” I mean capitalism enshittifying everything).

The most powerful PC you could build in 2005 would have a 7800 GTX (AKA G70). Incidentally, that is the closest thing to PS3’s GPU, which was famously less powerful than 360’s. On the CPU side it’s harder to compare because of the different architectures, but it wouldn’t be matched (and exceeded) until 2006 with the Core 2 Duo processors.

You could have two of those GPUs in one PC. If you’re talking price vs performance it makes sense but the statement as stands is not accurate

I’m obviously just virtue signaling to the congregation here, but after how obsolete the switch became immediately (mostly that the controllers stop working) and nintendo never really fixed it - there’s no way I’d buy a console from them again lol. It’s literally put me off from gaming (to my betterment) with how frustrating it is to use.

Fool me once, won’t get fooled again

The new one doesn’t even have controllers that fixed the issue. It wouldn’t cost them much more, they just want you buying more shit.

I know I’m a hater…But… Would it be so funny if someone found a way to brick them all…
Now being serious we all knew nintendo fans will carry the initial sales weight. Now remains to be seen how many 1st party games it will have how it handle mods and such and the prices. Nintendo trying to condition us to pay full price but it delivers mostly recycled shit, somehow I doubt the console will be the hit some think it will be, but seems it would not be the failure many expect to be.
