As I get older, I realized I’m just not in that much of a hurry anymore. And I really, really don’t want to hit a kid, so I’ll drive slow thru towns.

    Freeway though, that’s 80 mph.

They finish that rework of the 40 interchange yet? I haven’t been through there in about a year or so.

When I was driving trucks, I’d come up 530 to LR, then head west to FS, it was a pretty regular run for me.

Not only that, they fucking finally finished the widening of the highway to hot springs! So it’s three lanes on both sides on 40 until Malvern and two lanes with a median on 70! Shit is fucking magical to anyone who had to travel it a few years ago.

I just chill when I drive. If there’s a speed minimum, I obey it, but otherwise I’m just out there to relax and have a good time. I don’t even look at people’s faces when they pass. I’m not doing anything wrong. If they’re mad, they need to get over it. (My bf hates driving with me.)

I’m the same. Giving yourself an extra 15 minutes more than you expect the commute to take will save you hours when you don’t have to deal with hitting someone later.

I keep telling my partner that she should keep about a dozen hammers in her car so that I can chuck them at other drivers through the window. She has yet to take me up on the idea.

People should keep right except to pass, typically.

Over short distances, the difference between going 40 and 30 or even 20 are miniscule. I’ve still had people lose their shit when I wouldn’t blaze through a school zone. Just chill out bro, the fast food will be there all day.

But I live somewhere I don’t need to drive anymore, and I’m happy with it.

in a just world, not one centered around corporate interests, you would lose your license for this. instead, the automotive industry has to ensure that there’s plenty of drivers to buy their cars, so we can’t be too harsh on our licensing laws.

I guess it doesn’t matter. 50,000 deaths per year due to traffic accidents is a fair price to pay for the freedom to sit in traffic.

Yeah, that’s me on Prius, driving deliberately not above speed limit to laugh at your funny face when you pass and then not shine my high lights at you feeling moral superiority.

Where I live now, having more that one lane is a luxury few places could afford. I still slow down and move towards shoulder if I see The Secret Hints (those funny blinky yellow lights that do not seem to work in many, many cars).

yes, it’s about 5km/h lower than what panel says, I use GPS to fuel my ego! This bike is not made for speed.

I can drive fast and pull 4wd cars from snow with this car (I pulled dudes on RAMs from Grand Canyon snowy roads with 2010 Corolla), I just don’t want to.

Excellent. I drive exactly the speed limit, but often find myself stuck behind slow drivers (as the speedometer reads higher), hence the question. Some people do not pay attention (phone, etc.), some are unfamiliar with the road, some are too old to drive, …

Hah, when I lived in the US, I was 100% certain that if a road has limit, I can always, in worst imaginable conditions, just nail it and go with limit (I lived down south, ok, in Texas, but traveled all the thing).

Now in Europe this is absolutely not the case. I don’t mean Autobahns even, just regular roads in Finland are, well, just slow down if not sure, ok?
