Look up the arduous march, and how the US terrorized them during this period.

Compared the glutenous western capitalists, of course! The people of NK rebuilt their country with blood, sweat, and tears after the US bombed them to hell and back under the direction of the occupiers and despite the west’s utter determination to hold them back technologically with ridiculous unjustified sanctions

To liberals, the DPRK might as well be Mordor. Growing up in the US, there’s nothing quite like the insane level of casual dehumanization of Asian people from countries America has occupied or bombed. You take people who can see in real time the absurd lies Israel tells about the people it’s exterminating, but they lose the ability to put two and two together when they encounter something that lets them feel smugly superior to the victims of our aerial genocide. We killed 20 percent of them and leveled every single building for the crime of not wanting to be our colony, and then they spent the rest of the century rebuilding themselves from dirt and blood with the entire capitalist world trying to gatekeep them out of modernity. But of course, we never hear about any of that. It’s just the same dumbass story we get about everywhere we’ve fucked over: they hate us because they’re jealous, because they’re crazy, they hate us for our freedoms, they have an authoritarian cultureus-foreign-policy, they’re all brainwashed, trust me bro I heard it on the news.

The same smug, thought-terminating incuriosity is on display in this thread. Look at the level of critical thought my society encourages in it’s citizens dawg. Is it any wonder even tiny embargoed socialist countries have managed to do so much with so little, while the richest capitalist hearts of empire can’t seem to provide anything for the people living here except ever-expanding horizons of exploitation and despair?

Louder for the people in the back.

      Tap for spoiler

A liberal friend of mine asked me a question just a week or so ago: “do you really believe China to be more free than France?”, and like dawg have you been to China and know how its citizens live or is everything you think you know about it just western propaganda? I haven’t so I can’t tell you, but I also don’t think any European country is the paragon of freedom you think it is.

Look, it’s one thing to acknowledge that the US had done some truly heinous things to North Korea during the Korean War, not to mention all the atrocities committed by Japan earlier during WW2, and how their current state of being so technologically limited is heavily influenced by western country’s trade embargo against them…

But that still doesn’t excuse the fact that they’re currently led by an autocratic, megalomaniacal dictator in one of the most oppressive regimes in the world. Just because they’ve suffered tremendously in the past and even now due to western governments, doesn’t excuse their government’s own heinous crimes against their own citizens… a country can be both a victim of foreign powers and still have an evil, oppressive government of its own. It’s fine to sympathize with the citizens, sure, but to say that their government or standard of living “isn’t that bad” is an outright lie.

Absolute fucking westoid: "this Confucianist (culturally not so much religiously in NK) society that I don’t understand at all does things even slightly differently than our representative republican bipartisan grift completely corrupted by capitalism that we have the audacity to call democracy??? (classic eurocentric 19th century “scientific” racism where the social systems of Europe were automatically the peak of human social development and everything else was automatically backwards, inferior, oppressive etc)

Then it’s an autocratic oppressive regime that commits heinous crimes against its citizens and it’s also evil (westoids need good and evil because their understanding of the world doesn’t go beyond LOTR)."

Great collection of US foreign policy buzzwords and cliches that paint a suggestive emotional picture without invoking a single historical fact or example. Can’t use things that can be disputed as easily as pointing out that they originate in South Korean propaganda.

Now let’s see you doing the same for all the monarchies in Europe, the Gulf and Asia that the US is fully aligned with including dictatorships in the past, what they did with prisoners etc. Don’t forget to include that Murica has the greatest ratio of prisoners in the world and designs laws that put (primarily black) people to jail over bs victimless crimes like drug possession or just “paraphernalia” and keep them there for years. Can those people vote in your grand democratic white state? Go on you democracy warrior.

Oh also make a brave attempt to explain why there’s a significant tendency among NK defectors to commit suicide in SK. Are they missing evil oppressive regimes?

I believe North Korea is a pretty dangerous place to live. However, I don’t know if that’s true because them being so closed off and inaccessible makes it very easy to basically say anything about them (let’s say they eat newborns every Tuesday for lunch) and there’s no way to fact check it.

But you went to both and got the grand tour and somehow everyone spoke earnestly to your western ears and said “we hate it here, all day I wish for some McDonalds and Starbucks democracy but the Kims are blocking progress”? Are you openly advertising that you’re a spook?

It’s painfully easy to figure out that the wildest stories about NK are circulated by SK as propaganda based on “anonymous sources”, stuff like NK executing their football team for embarrassing the nation etc. There’s never external corroboration for these tales that only fools believe without evidence but western media rush to circulate.

Also little reminder for context, SK immigrants to the US after the Korean War were primarily such far right extremist scum that they’re the only group that got holed up in their exploitative little liquor shops in ghettos during the LA riots and shot back at the protesters with rifles. And low key helped start the riots when one of those extremely racist Korean shop owners shot a 13 year old black girl in the head over a (false) accusation that she had stolen a soda.

Capitalism’s ‘bread and circus’ might be the most addictive drug of all, they close their minds off to anything that goes against the narratives because the western audience would rather not think about it and enjoy the fruits of the exploitation. Blissful ignorance and all that
