Which is exactly why handwaving this shit is not unlike giving other famous people a pass “for their art”. 🤢 (eg. Woody Allen, Elvis, Frank Miller, etc.)
I don’t give them a pass - they’re still assholes, and I avoid contributing to their wealth wherever I can (aarrrrgggghhhh). That doesn’t mean the works they contribute to aren’t good simply because the actor is a shitty person IRL. There are usually plenty of other decent people involved, as well, so even when I do wind up paying to see something I try to think of it as contributing more to those people.
Edit: looked him up on wiki and it seems he had two lawsuits, one relating to his girlfriend’s creating a hostile workplace, and the other was about IP rights on the second sin city movie.
While shitty; I’m just relieved it’s not Woody Allen/Roman Polanski adjacent.
Ah, I was implying the wildly homophobic commentary he shared when the screen adaptation of 300 was getting a lot of attention, among other, similar hateful shit he was already known for in the con circuit, etc.
I feel ya there (pre-McDojo MA) and completely agree. There’s also the historically documented military traditions of that era & specific culture that completely obliterate his claims, but still. He’s a spiteful little git. 🤷🏼♂️ His art’s fun, though. 🥲

Right there with ya, but it’s still copium. 🥲
That’s fair. Exceedingly few things in this life are ever at their ideal state.
“No one should have to meet their hero.”
Uh oh, what happened with Frank Miller?

Damn that sucks. I’m a former boxer who can attest to gay dudes(and women) being able to kick an ass.
(Never fought a woman, but have seen their ability.)
