I know he has a reputation as an asshole, but his talent is undeniable. From the early movies to community I thoroughly enjoyed his performances.

And when he complained, he was labeled “difficult”…

Like, this was pretty soon after Harmon was fired from a small writing spot on The Sarah Silverman Show for going off on Sarah Silverman at a writing table and basically telling her to shut the fuck up in front of her entire writing team…

He’s immensely funny, but he’s a giant asshole. And out of all the people on set, Chevy was the one in a position to actual say shit about it. He didn’t need Community, everyone else could have had their career ended if they were labeled “difficult”.

So Harmon turned the whole cast and crew against Chevy.

Not saying Chevy is a saint himself, and likely handled it as poorly as possible. But it definitely wasn’t as one sided as we hear.

Which is exactly why handwaving this shit is not unlike giving other famous people a pass “for their art”. 🤢 (eg. Woody Allen, Elvis, Frank Miller, etc.)

I don’t give them a pass - they’re still assholes, and I avoid contributing to their wealth wherever I can (aarrrrgggghhhh). That doesn’t mean the works they contribute to aren’t good simply because the actor is a shitty person IRL. There are usually plenty of other decent people involved, as well, so even when I do wind up paying to see something I try to think of it as contributing more to those people.

Uh oh, what happened with Frank Miller?

Edit: looked him up on wiki and it seems he had two lawsuits, one relating to his girlfriend’s creating a hostile workplace, and the other was about IP rights on the second sin city movie.

While shitty; I’m just relieved it’s not Woody Allen/Roman Polanski adjacent.

Ah, I was implying the wildly homophobic commentary he shared when the screen adaptation of 300 was getting a lot of attention, among other, similar hateful shit he was already known for in the con circuit, etc.

Damn that sucks. I’m a former boxer who can attest to gay dudes(and women) being able to kick an ass.

(Never fought a woman, but have seen their ability.)

I feel ya there (pre-McDojo MA) and completely agree. There’s also the historically documented military traditions of that era & specific culture that completely obliterate his claims, but still. He’s a spiteful little git. 🤷🏼‍♂️ His art’s fun, though. 🥲
