Same reason I will never buy a car brand even loosely associated with evil. Because they chose a side, and it isn’t the one I’m on.

Edit: love how there is a not insignificant lemmy users who dislike this comment. Know I’m saying “fuck you” to you too.

Edit 2: your down votes fuel my hatred for you pricks! Keep the hate coming!

Then it’s probably not a good idea to be on Lemmy. It’s written in Rust, which is a programming language funded by a lot of unapologetically evil big tech companies, like Microsoft and Google. It was also initially created by Mozilla, a company with heavy associations with Google and which has even become quite pro-AI.

I’d say using tools funded by evil counts as “loosely associated”.

I’m going to let you know I’m down voting & blocking you.

No hate, I just wish to not interact with you anymore.

Edit: vote manipulation is not a good look.

I get that, but brand doesn’t pick sides. The company behind it does. A lot of current companies have predecessors working for axis.

And that company is Lenovo, not IBM.

So you agree that boycotting ThinkPads because they used to be owned by IBM is a silly stance?

I’m not defending Lenovo, by the way. I personally boycott them because they shipped systems with bios level spyware.
