56%? So basically the popular vote when voters actually fucking vote.

It’s the same damn statistic every time. 60% people horrified, 30% cheering, 10% cheering while making a good show of wringing their hands.

First past the post, education politicization, political disenfranchisement, and gerrymandering have created millions of monsters. I only hope democracies abroad take this as their wakeup call to fix the broken systems creating the global authoritarian / auth-right movement.

That still leaves 44% that are fine with it (or don’t care either way - which may actually be worse because they’re automatons)

More likely 10% that are tired of the shit, don’t know what’s real and fake anymore, or who to trust as an authoritative factual perspective. So it’s easier to just live their daily life, which is already a pain in the ass.

Exactly, the whole winner take all deal means not a single presidential vote I have made ever meant anything. The majority of electoral votes in my state were for the other party. So my preferred parties electoral votes won magically become the other parties. If they forced states to split electoral votes places like Texas and California would have a much different impact on elections.

That’s not what gerrymandering is, no. Words have meaning.

Not to defend the electoral college, it should be abolished.

The electoral college was put in place to prevent people like Trump from being elected, so it’s not even functioning as intended.

It might feel that way, but gerrymandering is specifically for the House of Representative districts. It has no bearing on the outcome of presidential elections.

It certainly determines how congress sorts war powers. It also determines how they keep legitimate judges out of SCOTUS until the GOP can seat their psychopaths. Gerrymandering has fucked everything. Can’t impeach and then convict. Can’t do shit about fuck. Here we are.

Electing Trump has fucked everything. Dumbass likely Democratic voters who sit out elections ruin everything. People in this country just don’t fucking care.

Because it determines the house of Representatives districts. It has nothing to do with presidential elections.

Do you understand why I made my comment in the context of the post?

Really annoying to be “corrected” by people ignoring how context works.

I have no idea why you’re being downvoted. Gerrymandering is specifically for the House of Representatives and has no bearing on presidential election outcomes.

People think I’m saying gerrymandering is ok, I’m not. I responded in the context of the thread, which is about Trump exclusively.

I’m being downvoted by people who don’t stop to think before doing so.

He has gone to far on his own citizens and every other country he wants to rob.

This is what happens when you put a criminal into office and let him do whatever he wants. We would have been much better off with a cat as our president.

That’s what happens when you don’t award a peace maker with the Peace Noble prize.
