Edit to add my opinion so I’m not just replying “I agree” to 90% of comments. I think it should be legal, properly regulated, taxed and viewed as a profession. I haven’t personally engaged in it but I have no moral objection to it. I do hate the common sentiment that it was the individual’s “only option” though.

Legalizing it wouldn’t fix the bad shit prostitution has working in the background. It’s like the porn industry, too many bad apples and giving them legalization is like giving them sanction.
Lol, everyone just wants to coom in someone and pay someone else to allow them doing it, that’s the real thing here.
Most industries have bad shit going on in the background. The meat industry horrifically abuses animals, eggs are from chickens that are forcefully starved so they lay more eggs, and lose their feathers. Most coffee is produced with slave labor, same with chocolate.
Legalizing it wouldn’t fix the problems with it, but regulations will mitigate them. But even in places where prostitution is legal, societal opinion on prostitutes deems them unworthy of workplace safety regulations. Same reason we end up with bad shit in the porn industry.
