So much time spent on negating radar spectrum it seems they forgot about light spectrum.

What German word describes being so technologically blinded you forget about the sticks and stones or slings and arrows approach? Because there is one, I’m sure.

It reminds me of a sci-fi story I read a long time ago, where an alien race outfitted its ships with nigh-impenetrable ECM and laser-reflective coating but was undone because it had absolutely no defense against unguided kinetic rounds.

I’m mildly optimistic that the empire might be toppled by its own endless grifting. Even their planes are a scam. I don’t think they forgot about anything. They just pocketed the cash as usual. It’s grift all the way down until somebody calls their bluff like this.

IR stealth is very much a part of the F-35 and other 5th gen fighters but like radar stealth it doesn’t make the plane invisible. It just decreases the detection range and makes other countermeasures more effective.

A big obstacle for modern stealth aircraft is that if they get within imaging range of a an electro-optical targeting system, there’s not much they can really do other than using terrain masking as far as I’m aware.
