catholic church(not the right wing followers) isnt as anti-science like protestant or evangelicals, they tend to have alot of scientists i believe too same cannot be said with fundamentalist christianity.
surprising amount of astronomy or astrophysics have catholic or jesuit people in there. never heard of a evangelical one.

Galileo actually had a lot of supporters in the church. That was the main reason he wasn’t executed.
