I do hope they don’t rewrite the book too much. The slow burn on how he finds things out and develops stuff over time is what makes it good. The Martian was a very faithful adaptation of the book (some stuff is removed but it’s not too bad), so hopefully Andy Weir is able to enforce a similar sticking to the plot.

hell yeah. didn’t even know this was going to be a movie. excited to see how they’ll portray Rocky.

this was also the first book i read in 7 years and it sparked my newfound love for reading after despising it all my life. shout out to the librarian who recommended me this book and my local library!

I wonder if they’ll subtitle Rocky or if they’ll actually voice him like they do in the audiobook.

I feel like burned in subtitles would be ideal - especially if they do the bit where Grace performs the Fourier Transformation to determine how Rocky voices himself and sets up the foundation for their translation methodology.

I really hope they don’t do what they did with Hanus in Spaceman (2024) and just have him speak English and say “skinny human” over and over again.

The Rocky “voice” in the audiobooks is so freaking good. It’s so much better than anything you can do with just reading the book.

Oh God yes, I love this book. As someone who didn’t like Weir’s The Martian (please don’t kill me), I loved Project Hail Mary so much more. It has such a fantastic feel!
