“So much new housing has been built, everyone can now afford buying their own before their 40s”
or better
“Corporations in fatal decline as most of the economy is now organised via cooperatives”
I double-checked it bc I’m that kind of a person, but I did apparently remember it correctly too :D
Otoh small songbirds seldom live beyond 3 years in the wild :(

Hungary was also won by a new party (though the leader came from Fidesz), not the existing, discredited opposition.
It will take years of work, but they made a great start on it.

4·11 天前Interestingly someone employed in a highly-sought-after profession may be more financially stable and well-off than a struggling small company owner, even if the latter employs others.
Or to take an example from my wider family: A lady in her 70s (with a more well-off relative securing the loan) managed to buy a small flat to rent out on AirBnB. If not for this, her state pension would not be enough to cover her food and bills, and no one hires older women where she lives. (And she has no savings to speak of.) Like, she’s technically a landlord now, but even with the AirBnB income she’s barely scraping by, so I can’t really see her as bourgeois.
Btw is it just me or parboiled rice tastes much worse than regular rice? Granted I’ve been avoiding it like the plague in the last two decades, but I have some bad memories of how flavourless and weird-textured it was.
(And since I learned the trick of cooking rice in salty, olive-oily water that I wait to boil away/absorb, that’s all I do, the end result tastes amazing compared those sad plastic bags of rice we cooked in my childhood.)
Was that red dress washed before? I always wash new clothes before the first wear, then just separate lights and darks in general. (Disclaimer: I own literally zero white clothes, so even the light ones are already pastel colours.)
I saw quite a few posts about it on hiking/sports subreddits in the olden days, it’s used for removing odour from sports shoes. I even tried it myself - depends on the shoe ofc, but like 30°C and lowest/no spin was completely fine. Pre-wipe the mud off, and add some worn old towels for padding, so it’s not just two shoes clanging around in the empty machine.
That must have been some very al dente rice. When cooked in a pan brown rice needs more than twice the cooking time than white.

Same, but tbh I see like one ad every… half a year? I’m always startled when one actually gets through uBlock & AdGuard, it’s such a rare occasion.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google quietly changes privacy policy so your Gmail and Photos could be used in targeted ads - DexertoEnglish
10·14 天前According to the article, it is off by default:
According to Google’s updated privacy policy, the company still promises not to use Gmail, Drive, or Google Photos content for targeted advertising by default.
However, the policy now includes an important exception. Google says that restriction no longer necessarily applies “unless you choose to make data from these services available to other Google services that support personalized ads.”
The change is connected to Google’s Personal Intelligence features, which allow services like Search and Gemini to access information from connected apps to provide more relevant recommendations.
For example, someone could give Google access to their Gmail inbox to help organize travel plans or find restaurant recommendations near a hotel reservation.
Under the updated policy, information shared for those personalized experiences could also be used to determine which advertisements appear.
