From Elgo to American Godzilla. Hope we can see some videos about “weird American knockoffs”.

I was just thinking this. The US used to do a lot of shitty knockoff products that today would be associated with China.

You can tell they’re USAmerican because they’re being used for the most uncreative, homogenous, suburban hellscape buildings possible.

Yeah, Elgo had their stuff in 1941 (based on a wooden version made by Halsam in the 1930s called “American Bricks”) while Lego started selling theirs in 1949.

Apparently they were shit, though. Boomers who had them complained they were hard to take apart.

Nintendo also made their own version back when they were a toy company which I hear were difficult to pull apart too

You think there were kids in the 1890s who were so obsessed with Hanafuda some parents rolled their eyes and said “you and your nintendos”

A pact with the Americans. I’m pretty sure it was some kind of Marshall aid programme that allowed the small provincial wooden toy maker to buy a modern plastic injection moulding machine after WWII.
