You did, I suppose, so, thanks for pointing that out. I remember reading Elijah Wood was also in a movie as a little kid. I remember finding out that Adam Scott (of Severance and other things) was in Star Trek VIII: First Contact as Worf’s helmsman during the big fight in the beginning, who announces the arrival of the Enterprise (which annoys Worf, who had just ordered a suicide run at the enemy). It doesn’t “look” like him but it is. These little cameos (or whatever you call them before the person is famous) are fun to find.

Didn’t know that! I remember seeing The Wizard in a movie theater. Even got the companion booklet. I had a power glove too. It looked really cool but sucked to use.

In more recent times, I rewatched The Impossible (2012), a Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor movie about a real family of 5 that went through the 2004 tsunami and somehow survived despite all odds. For most of the movie the father and two youngest are separated from the mother and the eldest son who, to my surprise during my rewatch, was played by a young Tom Holland.

    Good movie 👍

Bring tissues. It’s a crying movie. Also surprisingly gory sometimes, fyi. But yeah, it is intensely beautiful and very emotional. The real family was brought on set and were actively involved in the making of the film. The real mother and Naomi became rather close friends if I’m not misremembering.

I also think this detail is really cute, but in an interview with Naomi Watts, she mentioned how she believed Tom Holland had a great career ahead of him and that he would become a big name. If you get the chance to get a hold of the behind the scenes material for this film, I highly recommend you give it a watch :) this movie was made by people who genuinely cared about the impact the 2004 tsunami had on its victims, which is always nice to see. So much love between strangers.

Thank you. That sounds well worth seeing. I will see if I come across that somewhere.

I saw that movie for the first time one week ago. It was worse than I thought: boring stuff for one hour, plays the NES as an advertisement, the end.

It was only really amazing if you were a kid in 1989 who played NES which almost all kids did back then. I can definitely see how it wouldn’t seem like such a big deal if you saw for the first time as an adult in 2026. The upcoming Super Mario Bros 3 game was a huge deal as was Fred Savage and Christian Slater gave it a certain cool factor because he was an actor in movies everyone’s older siblings watched. I was like 8 at the time and I think Jenny Lewis was my first movie crush lol

Definitely. I remember seeing a trailer and was like: they play video games? On stage? The same thing i play at home? They compete?? It was such a novel idea to me that the movie was just amazing no matter what. I also watched a lot of wonder years
