The 1979 crises happened due to production stoppages from Iran because of the revolution happening there which was compounded by market panic; the 1979 revolution was an overthrow of the US/British installed government that replaced the elected government in 1953. The 1953 overthrow (the US and British sponsored one) happened because Iran’s then PM nationalized Iran’s oil and gas industry.
