We’re about to start, get in!

1 hour until showtime

I haven’t watched the movie through in decades, so while I do remember the cartoon rabbit about to thrown in the pot and made into dinner, I don’t remember the bees… but, but they’re cartoon bees. Edit: or was that one of the human bits? I rmeember the bull chase, but not bees. Should I mention the cartoon bindings? As I recall, Br’er Rabbit wasn’t bothered by the predicament, but maybe a viewer would worry for him when he did not? Maybe I’m misremembering.

Any pointers you can give would be appreciated. I’m just copying ‘dog dies’ and imdb, and adding any bits I can remember.

I know it is rare for anyone to read the comments here, but I gotta say: I LOVE A Patch of Blue despite its delicate handling of race relations – that Poitier must be perfect and giving; getting nothing much in return for helping over and over again, and that Elizabeth Hartman has to be the most lower class and minimized version of a White American to be able to accept that her benefactor is the ‘wrong’ color.

A pre-show short will begin in a few minutes, and the main event in ½ hour.

At 4:35pm EST/9:30pm UTC we’ll have a scratchy old 1968 anti-drug use scare film (no subs) “FROM RUNAWAY TO HIPPIE” – this short demonstrates the anti-drug scare that would later have stoners laughing hysterically at “Taking Off”, particularly the scene where:

Modern viewers might better understand why some considered the movie biting satire by trying to replicate the mindset of a counter-culture kid of that generation, hence the short.

Update: I’d forgotten the DVD for “Celebration at Big Sur” has no subtitles and I could find none online. I’ve updated the post to include a youtube link at lower resolution with auto-generated subs (my copy isn’t great either since it is a DVD source, but is still twice as clean).

Social workers: underpaid, overworked, too many cases to handle, and every week there’s a new case to handle or an old one to revisit. There are different categories of Social Workers, but it’d be nice to cover a mix, so you dealt with elderly people with trouvle getting out, child adbuse/neglect, homelessness, and so on. If it was limited to one offiice, I’d pick mental health workers.

Abbot Elementary started strong but slid downwards.

Man’s Castle is over and we’re getting ready for Wild Zero with Guitar Wold and zombies!

Movies start in about 20 minutes. We’ll be watching a youtube of Bib Mama Thorton in concert at Eugene Oregon from 1971 until the films get going.

Movies start in 2 hours

That was my fault. I copied the list from another post without checking for updates. It was a spur of the moment movie idea out of the regular schedule.

Update! I listed the time as EDT, but since the U.S. moved to STANDARD time last night, the EST time is NOON – just 1/2hour from now
