As a kid, I loved that the only actual monsters on Scooby Doo, were monsters I already very much believed in - wealthy and powerful old men seeking more wealth at the expense of others.

I like how most of the time the effort taken to truck people into some kind of Halloween monster is haunting a place would take way more time and effort than it would be worth it. Also if you’re trying to find the gold hidden in the circus and keep other people away by pretending to be a ghost clown, that’s a long commitment and a tonne of work, for like maybe finding a few grand or so

Just once I’d like to see the gang have to solve an actual mystery. Scooby has to track down a serial killer or a paedophile or a terrorist. At one point he shoots a man, the wrong man, and then starts seeing that man’s face transposed onto other peoples’ bodies. It ends with him trying to open a bottle with his paws because it’s the only thing he can get to the bottom of without having a nervous breakdown.

This was an episode of Supernatural, it was entertaining because Scoob and the gang were completely psychologically unprepared to be in a world where people get dismembered and butchered by the monsters.

This is the live action Scooby Doo movie that James Gunn wanted to make.

I don’t think it would be appropriate to have a paedophile in Scooby doo, also they always catch people with nets and stuff. Scooby doo does not carry a gun and that is important

I think in an era of real criminals, it’s important that we have at least one paedophile on Scooby Doo and that they give Scooby a gun and a backstory about being in Iraq so he hesitates when he shoots, killing a hostage. The gun doesn’t need to be prominent beyond that, but it needs to be in the final scene when he writes “Roward” on the wall and shoots himself under it.

Scooby Doo took place in an era of boomer criminals. They could only show white collar crime. In the real world, the world where we need Scoob, the monsters do monstrous things. What if Scoob was tasked with solving the Josef Fritzl case? Would he have the stomach for it after three tours in Fallujah or would it eat him alive?

To anyone interested in watching SD again, there is some absolutely-S-tier content available now. Mystery Incorporated absolutely floored me and some of the older Stenstrum movies like Zombie Island, Alien Invaders, and Witch’s Ghost still hold up.

yeah I was shocked at how good Mystery Incorporated was. Literally about 100x better than old Scooby Doo and I say this as someone with nostalgia for shitty 70s cartoons

I think it’s because the creators of mystery incorporated clearly grew up on the same Scooby doo we did
