Kinda unironically part of (albeit not the driving factor) between me coming to the conclusion of left unity being absolutely necessary. That and because I understand that we’re gonna need to be “authoritarian” as fuck to certain classes and factions in order to avert capitalist driven ecocide.

I had a long conversation about climate collapse last night, and let’s just say i am less optimistic than you about averting ecocide. We still need to limit the harm it will do, there’s a fairly huge difference between capital’s climate contradiction killing off scores of millions or one billion + people, but when i look at the imperial core, i fear that revolution will not happen before we can smell the ash from the fire clouds every day of summer.

It’s an extension of “you become more right wing as you get older.”

I’ve had people straight up tell me that I wouldn’t believe in leftism once I paid taxes and owned a house.

      I do both, so 🤷🏽

      • the older and lucky-for-me, the more engrained into the social order (homeownership, taxes, etc) i become with its nominal stability for basic needs… the more radical left i become. because there is no reason to deprive anyone in society of these basic accomodations.

frankly, it exposes the moral/spiritual bankruptcy or egoic preoccupation of the others now around me, in similarly improved situations, who want to focus more on personally aspiring to more elaborate and luxurious consumption, rather than trying to figure out ways to leverage our enhanced positions to support the ones still held down.

im not like a religious person or metaphysically inclined like i once was, but i guess its still obvious to me that chasing luxury is truly a dead end… and i feel like those who chase it are pathetic and doomed.

Absolutely! The line makes him more endearing as a character, but it also just shows how blatantly uncooperative he is as well. That’s why it’s so much fun to watch Luthen’s reaction to him, this bemused smile that says what all of us were thinking too: You are on the right track, Saw, but you’re missing a few key points, and you are unwilling to learn about them.

He was wrong though. The problem is that everyone that was right died except for Saw. Perhaps if they had worked together more closely their resources would have more effectively been used and losses wouldn’t have doomed the revolution.

I’m convinced that if Nemik had been on Yavin with the new army that was being built he would’ve had theory as part of their training curriculum and you would have had a military with a real ideology that couldn’t be coopted by liberal politicians that took over leadership. If relations weren’t so strained more bodies could’ve taken part in the robbery and Nemik might not have died, I’m certain that Saw had more experienced fighters that would’ve handled crowd control and their personal nerves much better. Luthen’s team were very green, scared and jumpy.
