If I were to give them the benefit of the doubt, this would be about movies and shows that come with built-in ads (characters holding cokes, too much focus and glaze on a specific car, ect).

But they don’t deserve that so expect the worst. I heard there’s a certain bay online that’s always open to visitors. pirate-jammin

They tested the water on that a few months back. I was actually fuming, considering how they raised the price three times in a year and still pulled that shit.

I already thought it was absurd that streaming services introduced tiers where you pay and still have to watch ads. When Hulu originally started, at least the content with ads was free.

That’s hilarious. They can put it in their terms and conditions if they want, but that’ll never stand in court. This is a class action suit waiting to happen

And to think, there was a good ten years or so there where I completely stopped pirating anything and just payed for subscriptions to stuff.

This is the kind of garbage that discourages people. This reminds me of the “unlimited” data phone plan that is in fact limited in the fine print.

As things get harder for working class it’s dangerous to the republic to take away cheap entertainment. That’s how bored people are encouraged to gather and potentially turn into mobs. And yet, they keep doing just that, eroding entertainment with garbage practices like this.

It’s as if they’ve all forgotten the 2020 experiment. What happens when America as a whole is angsty, bored, and looking for justice?

This one thing doesn’t do it, no. But there’s a death by bug bites happening at an exponential rate.

Damn, if corpos want to advertise to me so much, how about they PAY ME to be pestered by their ads?

If there’s one thing I would pass to make capitalism a tad more tolerable, is to tax advertising.

Lotta quality streaming sites out there that you can use at leisure with just uBlock Origin (don’t use without an adblocker unless you really like adult themed pop up ads)

I’m in awe of how uBlock is reporting to me that the amount of ads that it’s blocked is in the 8 figures.

Between that and sponsorblock I have moments where I’m super out of touch because people are talking about artists, movies, and sometimes specific commercials that I haven’t the faintest idea about. It’s only when I interact with the public that I’m introduced to ads and they feel suffocating. If I ever have to (or if I’m so lucky as to get to) fly somewhere and stay at a hotel it’s a torrent. If I go to a concert that I’m invited to it’s a torrent. Not to mention all the “rate your experience!” emails that come with it and how I have to opt to unsubscribe and sometimes unsubscribe to MULTIPLE TYPES OF MARKETING.

My local grocery store has an aisle of the fridges with electronic ads on them. The gas station nearest to my BJJ gym has pumps that autoplay ads. Highways are littered with ads. It’s a disgusting, disgusting practice.
