I hate all the plastic I waste. And I aint super hygienic about it, re-use em a couple times.
But I love those things.
I have 2 dental implants. Flossing is not optional.
And implants are about $5,000 + 1 year of your life. Its an investment you don’t want to re-do.
I’m not some dental saint here, I lost those teeth originally through poor care. I brush once or twice daily, but I floss after every meal.
the thing is that so long as you have to shove a piece of string between your teeth and manually move it around, it’s going to be annoying. We need something like an electric toothbrush but for flossing.
It’s like $100 for a kit of the handle and 45 floss heads, and when you need more floss heads, it’s like $20 for 90 floss heads.
Swedneck, I am too invested for you not to say that you’ll check out some kind of electric flosser or at least a water pick!
that one actually looks good, though i have very little desire to buy something i can’t buy new heads for at the grocery store.
Waterpik has the upside that it just uses water, but is instead hilariously bulky and i’ve heard those actually aren’t very effective (and i’m not willing to spend $60 only to find out that it indeed isn’t very useful). This being an actual flosser seems much better and i look forward to it becoming as standard as electric toothbrushes so i can get one without having to trust a random company online (which ain’t happening).
If i see an electric flosser at a physical store or at least a domestic online store for a reasonable price, i will absolutely get one.
There’s also ones like that where you wrap the floss around it yourself, which greatly reduces your plastic waste, especially if you use an eco friendly floss.
Have you tried this kind of flosser?

I reuse them probably a lot longer than I should. but like, yeah, plastic waste. sure it’s not much, but it’s the principle
keeps me flossing pretty much daily though, and my teeth are better for it. cleaner anyways

Oh shit, it’s real!

I almost want to buy one just to reward them for going there.
On second thought, I don’t think I want to shred Teflon strings in my mouth every day.
Teflon itself seems to be safe, right?
It’s safe to cook on if you don’t heat it past 500°F.
Maybe I’m being overly paranoid by not wanting to ingest small amounts twice daily, but I’m going to err on the side of an abundance of caution there.
