Perhaps, but they did the same thing with Twitter. Part of the reason why Musk got funding from Saudi Arabia to buy Twitter was because of the Arab spring and how people used Twitter to organize.

They have total control over the platform. Don’t let them using a light hand for now fool you into thinking this is some kind of space that is up for grabs if you just post hard enough. It is gameover for tiktok, who controls the silicon controls the narrative, it will just take time for them to kill the left there by a thousand cuts.
The only way to win in this sphere is to own our tools and build dual power here on the fediverse.
That or seizing the means of production which in the case of tiktok can’t really be done short of a full revolution (to control tiktok you’d need tiktok’s many distributed servers, control of ICANN or at least a lot of significant DNS servers, control of Google and Apple’s OS and appstore trust chains, means to prevent blocking/internet shutdown at every level)… which yeah would be great but in terms of what can be achieved through the power of posting; the dual power strategy is obviously the only one worth pursuing and one in which you are already contributing to by posting here.
The objective was to stop any alternative narratives, so having everyone leave is an acceptable outcome for the new owners
