iirc the main producers of advanced photoresist products are based in Japan. Between this and other wafer production advances, China is moving to eat marketshare from Japan, Taiwan and European tooling makers. What Chinese manufacturing has done for consumer electronics globally is only going to continue to expand and threaten the margins of key industries in many other countries and tech sectors, especially South Korea in the coming years.

I expect that we’re going to start seeing more aggressive push to ban Chinese tech in G7 countries in the coming years. And as a result, there’s going to be a bifurcated market for technology globally. The global south will be using advanced Chinese tech, while the west will be stuck with legacy technology increasingly falling behind the rest of the world.
