To be fair to Picard though, they weren’t in the middle of a desperate war of survival against a genocidal enemy when Worf killed Duras. Whereas Gowron was risking the safety of everyone in the Alpha Quadrant by deliberately fucking around and wasting ships just to politically weaken Martok. Someone had to stop him, and only Worf could do it legally.

Small correction/addition, only Worf was willing to do the deed, mostly because of Worf’s views of klingon honor with his own ideals owing to the fact that he grew up with a very romanticized view of klingon honor that just didn’t match reality.
I never connected the two scenes. Holy shit this is so good and funny.
